I have Buchholz relay set up then why should I install M&D equipment ?

Buchholz trips after the formation of significant amount of gases. Which means failure has already been developed dramatically. In contrast M&D equipment gives you a very handy solution that keeps you updated in real time, or immediately in case of DGA on-site through Transport-X. These methods secure assets from catastrophe.

Transformer failure rate in this case is quite low, then why should I care ?

Transformers being the heart of power systems is vital for operation. Therefore a single catastrophe can result in to many damages which may include but not limited to; physical injury to asset and personnel, public image spoiling and ultimately unplanned power outages.

I can wait for months then why should I choose these M&D equipment ?

Even if we consider that manual sample has been taken with best possible odds i.e. sample integrity has been maintained during sample taking and shipping and the lab personnel has performed without human error even then this is not the best possible solution because a failure can occur within few day, weeks or even hours.

It's been 30 years with this transformer fleet without any problem ?

As the fleet gets old so do the chance of incipient faults. A simple bathtop curve illustrates this phenomenon. Also there are empirical evidences of this fact.

How and when will I get payback of this investment ?

You start getting payback depending on your chosen M&D solution application.
